Part of the FAMILY SERIES
Sunday noon family concerts at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society draw the biggest number of listeners. Their credits lie in unorthodox forms and moods, often staged programmes and democratic ambiance. This season family series opens with the chamber opera Flower Girl (1976) by Vladas Švedas, a classic of modern Lithuanian music. The composer commissioned the libretto from poetess Janina Degutytė, a representative of late romanticism and also greatly admired for her poetry for children.
